Personal Testimony: As a child in Sheridan, WY I attended church with my family and developed a belief in God and even began faithfully praying to Him at an early age. Upon moving to Laramie, we were periodic visitors in church but it never was a consistent part of our lives. It was not until early in high school that I truly understood what it meant to be a Christian, and began my relationship with Jesus Christ. We started attending a church in Laramie, where we had developed a relationship with the pastor, who served as a weight room coach and volunteer assistant football coach for my brother and my high school football team. During one of his messages, we were challenged with the question, “If you were to die today, where would you be spending eternity?” I realized I didn’t know. I had been a pretty good individual and did not get into a lot of trouble, but I realized that Jesus’ death on the cross and my belief and acceptance of this gift was the only way that I would find eternal life. I had truly come to an understanding that Jesus Christ had died for sinners, such as myself, and prayed to receive Christ as Savior and Lord. From this point on, my life began to slowly change with new desires and convictions. When I got into college and became more involved in the church as well as FCA and the lives of other Christian peers, I really began to grow in my faith. God truly transformed my life and even gave me a desire to reach out to my football teammates through a bible study, and leading the FCA group which consistently proclaimed the good news of Christ. I would have never expected to join a Christian ministry, but have found that God has a plan for me, plans to prosper me, and not to harm me, plans to give me a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11), and a large part of that plan is through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
FCA Involvement: My first exposure to the FCA ministry was while attending Laramie Jr. High School as a freshman. I went to several FCA meetings which met at 7am in the morning. I also got involved with the High school FCA huddle during my senior year of high school. At the University of Wyoming I was a part of the FCA huddle’s leadership team where I served as treasurer (1998) and president (1999-2002). I attended my first FCA summer camp in Powell Wyoming in 1999 as a football huddle leader where I served as a football coach and college counselor at the camp. This was an incredible experience and I have been back to camp every year since 1999 as huddle leader (99-02) , huddle leader coordinator (03), or camp director (04,05). During my junior and senior years of college, former State Director Matt Darr hired me as a Campus Associate, where I served the UW FCA group and helped out with the local middle school and high school FCA huddles. While serving as the campus associate, God made it clear to me that I should serve Him in full time ministry rather than pursue a position in Civil Engineering. Rather than building roads and bridges, I was excited about building into people’s lives for eternity. It was through my experience at camp and at the University FCA where God truly gave me a passion for reaching out to others with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Upon graduation from the University, I immediately joined the Wyoming FCA Staff, serving as the Southern WY/UW Area Representative covering the FCA ministries at the University of Wyoming, and Albany and Carbon Counties. In the summer of 2003 my territory expanded to cover all of Southeast Wyoming which would also include, Laramie, Goshen, and Platte counties. Stacy has also been a part time employee, serving as an administrative assistant with Southeast WY FCA since March of 2005, and is involved in Bible study and discipleship with women at the University of Wyoming.
